2015 Festival Announcement

 Folly Theater, downtown KC!

    July 24 & 25, 2015. 7:30 PM.

Kansas City Dance Festival is proud to enter 2015 after two extraordinary years of success. Our shows have received an abundance of accolades from the Kansas City community, donors, patrons, supporters, and social media sources. Not only has Kansas City Dance Festival enhanced and broadened the Kansas City arts community, it has also reached and been recognized in the art scene both nationally and internationally.

KCDF 2015 will be bigger, better, brighter and even more invigorating for this summer’s performance. New dancers, new internationally renowned choreographers and even a new VENUE!

We are truly excited about KCDF 2015.  This year we searched the globe for amazing choreography that would bring a unique experience for the Kansas City community. What we found is amazing, exciting, athletic, intense, and inspiring.

Italian choreographer, Davide Bombana’s Kunst der Fuge pas de deux brings color and imagery to the evening.  His movements are smart, sleek and precise with movements of pure genius. British Choreographer and former principal dancer with Stuttgart Ballet, Douglas Lee, has graced us with his work titled, Chimera. Lee’s work is heralded around the world and presenting this US premiere is a real milestone for the festival. Owen Cox Dance Group will perform an excerpt of Jennifer Owen’s, Memory Palace to the music of Helen Gillet. This work was one of the highlights of 2014 in Kansas City. Penny Saunder’s, Ghost Light will make a powerful performance for a well-deserved encore after premiering this work at New Dance Partners, 2014. Saunder’s choreography is a joy for the dancer and audience alike.

To round out and lighten the evening KCDF will be presenting the ever youthful, American flared, Rubies Pas de deux by George BalanchineRyan Nye and Anthony Krutzkamp will present a co-choreographed work to the music of Max Richter with original lighting by Trad Burns. Marco Goecke’s, Mopey was such a 2014 KCDF success; we had to bring his work back to the stage this year.  We are humbled and elated to present his highly anticipated Firebird pas de deux.

We hope you enjoy these works as much as we do.  Get your tickets to this amazing show before they sell out. See you there. Also if you would like to donate, please visit our support page and scroll to the bottom. Thank you for your support.
